  1. A 1% (v/v) inoculum from an overnight culture for 12 h was used. IPTG was added in 4 h when OD600 reached 0.7. Samples were taken and measured until 24 h. 10 g/L glucose was added initially as sole carbon source. Glycine (2 g/L) as substrate for C4 pathway was added as indicated. The results are the average of three individual experiments
